Who I would change lives with if I had the chance, By Lauren Fagan

First off, if I had the chance to switch lives with anyone I do not think that I would because I am very content with my life and the way it is. However, if I had to change places with someone I would have to say I would want to change places with Erin Gruwell, the teacher who had a movie made about her and her classes called, Freedom Writers. After watching the movie and finding a little more out about her and what she did with her students from the ghetto, I found her to be very inspiring and amazing. Not only was she a young first time teacher working in the ghetto, she was also a women. Gruwell who came from a fairly easier background than most of her students had a very hard time trying to connect with and teach her students. Even though she came up against many obstacles teaching, in the end she always found a way to make everything work out.

Gruwell is a true inspiration to me and what I would like to do with my future. I would love to be able to take a group of students and show them the wonders of education and that being the cool kid in school is not always the best thing. Also get the students to want to learn and have them become interested in history. I can only dream and wait patiently for the first day in my own classroom trying to teach and learn along with my students.

That is why if I had the chance to change lives with any person I would choose Erin Gruwell. Not only is she a woman to respect but she is also one of my heroes and idols. I can only wish and hope to become a teacher like her someday.
