What does "Home" mean to me? --by Meghan Weik

Home to me means safety, understanding, and love. Home to me is where I can be and just enjoy living with my family. I have three homes. I have my home in my hometown which is my mother's house, I have my home here at school with my best friends, and I also consider my Nannie and Pop Pop's house a home. Home to me means family. My friends here at school have created a family of our own that I cherish each time I walk through the doors of my house. I've never felt alienated in my house. Sometimes when I visit my dad I feel very ambivalent about the atmosphere but I don't consider that house a home, thus it doesn't really affect me. My homes provide me with emotional support and constant guidance, safety, and love. Though I have developed quite a fun and loving home here in West Chester, there are a lot of things I miss about my Mom's house. I miss talking to my mom and my sisters about everything. When I lived at home we would all sit outside on the deck and talk for hours and it always felt so good knowing how close of relationship we had and we still do have. I also miss the food from home, nothing here at school is as good as anything my mom could ever cook. I can't believe I ever complained about what was for dinner.
