Ka- Art Teacher
Rebecca's Children- students
It was 7:30am. The school was quiet, the only noises she heard were those coming from the janitors mop 100yds away. Ka had just recieved her first full-time teaching job at Penn London Elementary School. Being the punctual individual that she is, she arrived to school an hour early to set up her classroom and the activities for her students today.
At 8:15am, she began to hear the stampering and giggles of the children getting off the school bus. Soon, she knew her classroom would be filled with happy children eager to meet their new teacher and create their very first master piece.
Ka was slightly wrong. Instead of well-behaved happy children, 25 children hopped up on Cocoa Pops and Lucky Charms rushed in to room to try to find the table with the best set of water colored paints. After a couple minutes of witnessing this chaos, the room seemed to fill with the smell of rotten eggs and bad italian hoagies. The smell was coming from two of the "more behaved" children who were minding their own business while the others began scribbling on ever piece of paper they saw.
Ka could tell that these children were poorer than the rest. They were wearing torn clothes that were too small for their even smaller bodies. Ka could tell from that point on, that her job had just gotten a little more difficult. Now, she wasn't just an art teacher, she was someone who had a direct effect on these children's lives and even after seeing them for only 5 minutes, she was already emotionally involved.
